Stay Home, Save Lives – and learn to live more eco-friendly!
BeeEco Stay Home Eco Activities
Here are my 3 DIY activities you can do from home and keep yourself busy while implementing a few earth friendly household tricks!
- Make your own Nut Mylk
Making your own mylk saves on plastic, in fact it is 100% plastic free.
Stock up on your favourite nuts in bulk by taking your own containers to your local heath food shop and save on plastic packaging.
My new favourite recipe is a cashew/oat/coconut – it is super creamy and froths up like barista milk!
It is super simple and makes just under 1L of creamy goodness.
- 1/3 cup of raw cashews soaked in boiling water for 30mins or soak overnight in cold water – rinsed and drained
- ½ cup of unsweetened coconut flakes
- ¼ steel cut oats
- 3 cups of filtered water
- X1 medjool date – if you want it sweeter
- Pinch of salt
Add all ingredients to high speed blender and blend under it turns a nice white colour.
Then strain and filter through a nut mylk bag or cloth (you can use a tea towel)
- Make a home made coconut coffee scrub
Reuse your glass jars and containers by filling them up with home made body and face scrub.
My favourite recipe uses coffee grounds, coarse rock salt, lemon juice and coconut oil.
Mix it all up into a rough scrub and use on your body and face! You can use BeeEco face rounds in the exfoliation process!
You can watch a little instagram story on a step by step process here!
- DIY Bees Wax Wraps
These are super fun to make and you can use them as a replacement for nasty plastic wraps.
You can make your own beeswax blend but BeeKeep sell their own blend and they have developed the perfect combination of beewax, jojoba oil and pine resin– you can buy a packet for $21, all you need is your own cloth!
Make sure to use pure cotton and wash and dry before use.
BeeKeep also have a step by step process to explain the process.
For a vegan version just replace beewax with soy or Carnauba wax.
Happy creating friends!
